Mirrorless cameras have done a lot to change the idea that a small camera cannot be powerful, and today we are going to see the best MIRRORLESS cameras of 2017.
As always I will not mention only cameras that were launched this year, but cameras that are a real and cool option for those who are looking for a mirrorless camera.
It is no wonder that virtually all camera manufacturers produce, or are in the process of producing, a quality mirrorless camera.
All this due to the great success that this type of camera has been presenting in recent years.
The following list includes the best MIRRORLESS cameras of 2017, the best options on the market taking into account innovation, performance and cost-effectiveness.
If you need something portable for casual use or something that can rival the best DSLRs, keep reading to find the best camera for your needs.
The best MIRRORLESS cameras of 2017
1. Sony A6000
Type: mirrorless | Sensor: APS-C | Megapixels: 24.3MP | Lens mount: Sony E | Screen: 3-inch tilt, 921,600 points | Continuous shooting speed: 11 fps | Display: Electronic | Maximum Video Resolution: 1080p | User level: Beginner / enthusiast
The Sony A6000 may have been launched three years ago and won successors such as the A6300 or A6500, but it is indisputable that it is the most affordable in this line.
The fact that it has a lower value and almost all the qualities of its younger sisters makes it an option that cannot be left out.
With a 179-point autofocus system that combines phase and contrast detection along with 11 frames per second of continuous shooting makes this girl a great choice for sports photography or even videos.
Its 24mp APS-C sensor is more than capable of producing great images, and its tilted LCD screen makes life much simpler.
Even though it doesn’t have the most current features, the same as those of the younger sisters, the A6000 is a great option for its cost.
2. Panasonic G80 / G85
Despite its price, the G80 packs tons of technology into its DSLR-style body
Type: mirrorless | Sensor: Micro Four Thirds | Megapixels: 16 MP | Lens mount: Micro Four Thirds | Screen: 3 inch touch screen, 1,040,000 dots | Display: Electronic | Continuous shooting speed: 9 fps | Maximum Video Resolution: 4K | User level: Beginner / enthusiast
Panasonic has the great ability to bundle top of the line features in its cameras for a very honest price.
And this is no different on the G80, which is probably the Lumix line of cameras that best manages these features, price x technology.
With a 16MP MFT sensor it may not seem very flashy, but removing the AA filter results in images with very present details.
Add to the sauce an excellent touchscreen that can be adjusted at an angle and the OLED display and the dish is almost ready.
The main highlights of the G80 are the stabilization of direct image on the body and the ability to make videos in 4K.
All of this together in a camera that won’t break your bank account.
3. Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III
The newest OM-D model gains main processing power and 4K video
Type: mirrorless | Sensor : Micro Four Thirds | Megapixels: 16.1MP | Lens mount: Micro Four Thirds | Screen: 3-inch tilting touchscreen, 1,037,000 points | Display: Electronic | Continuous shooting speed: 8.6fps | Maximum Video Resolution: 4K | User level: Beginner / enthusiast
Olympus has stepped foot in the door when it comes to mirrorless cameras, and the O-MD line is proof of that.
And the OM D E-M10 Mark III is one of the great postulants among the best mirrorless cameras of 2017.
With a very beautiful retro design and similar to her predecessors but also with major improvements under the hood, she faces head on with cameras like the G80 or X-T20 fa Fuji.
Improved autofocus system, 5-axis image stabilization integrated into the body and the ability to make 4K videos are the girl’s strengths.
Perhaps the only one, however, is due to the 16.1MP sensor which is not the most current sensor on the market, but this will not stop you from taking great pictures with it.
And, of course, as a Micro Four Thirds model, the camera offers access to a wide variety of lenses from both Olympus and Panasonic, as well as many other options, Samyang, Sigma and even Voigtländer.
4. Fujifilm X-T20
To start the story
Type: mirrorless | Sensor: APS-C | Megapixels: 24.3MP | Lens mount: Fuji X | Screen: 3-inch tilting touchscreen, 1,040,000 points | Display: Electronic | Continuous shooting speed: 8 fps | Maximum Video Resolution: 4K | User level: enthusiast
Fujifilm has impressed me with each new release, and so it has been with the X-T20.
With a very cool sensor, 24.3 MP X-Trans CMOS, 4K video recording, 325 focus points and 8 FPS continuous shooting, the X-T20 is perhaps the best option in this list.
In addition to being a very elegant camera, it is capable of producing great images, especially for photos.
Perhaps the only caveat is the lens mount system, the Fuji X, which does not have the same amount of lens as other systems on the market.
But even so Fuji has great prime and zoom lens options available for this little beauty.
If you want to give me a natural gift, I accept a Fujifilm X-T20 with a smile .
5. Sony A7 II
One of the most affordable full-frame cameras around
Type: mirrorless | Sensor : full frame | Megapixels: 24.3MP | Lens mount: Sony E | Screen : 3-inch tilting screen, 1,228,800 dots | Display: Electronic | Continuous shooting speed: 5 fps | Maximum video resolution: Full HD | User level: enthusiast
Sony opened the doors of the full frame sensor on mirrorless cameras with the A7, then came a flood of them.
We had the A7R, A7S, A7R II, A7S II and so on, but we also had the A7 II that brought great improvements in relation to its other sisters.
These improvements are very welcome, such as image stabilization directly on the camera body, changing the LCD screen, among others.
Although not all changes have been made to make it a strong competitor in the market for a long time, it is still a great option for those who want a beautiful mirrorless camera.
If you want to shoot movies in 4K you will have to choose another sister, A7R II or A7S II will probably be your best options.
6. Fujifilm X-T2
Serious case
Type: mirrorless | Sensor: APS-C | Megapixels: 24.3MP | Lens mount: Fuji X | Screen: 3-inch variable touchscreen, 1,040,000 dots | Display: Electronic | Continuous shooting speed: 8 fps (up to 14 fps) | Maximum Video Resolution: 4K | User level: enthusiastic / professional
Older, more expensive, heavier than the X-T20, the X-T2 would have everything to be put aside on this list.
The settings are practically identical to those of the X-T20 except for small details that make it a better camera.
The X-T2 has a sealed body for bad weather and also has a slot for 2 SD cards, they are the only considerable differences of this girl here.
It’s a great camera, just like the X-T20, with jaw-dropping image quality.
The biggest sadness in both models is not having image stabilization directly on the body, a pity. But this is no reason for you not to put them on your wishlist.
I have a serious case with this camera, as it never gets off my wish list no matter how hard I try to get it out.
7. Panasonic GH 5
Much more than just a boost to your video specs over its predecessor
Type: without mirror | Sensor: Micro Four Thirds | Megapixels: 20.3MP | Lens mount: Micro Four Thirds | Screen: 3-inch variable touch screen, 1,620,000 dots | Display: Electronic | Continuous shooting speed: 12fps | Maximum Video Resolution: 4K | User level: enthusiastic / professional
The line GH ‘s Panasonic has created a niche and this is an indisputable fact, if you want to make videos here is a great option.
Several manufacturers have entered the 4K video market, but the GH5 behind option far beyond 4K for those who want to make videos.
Body image stabilization, 4K at 60 FPS and an incredible range of lenses make this girl the champion among the best mirrorless cameras of 2017 when it comes to movies.
Even so, Panasonic has not neglected resources for those who just want to take pictures, as it does this very well too.
All the legacy that the GH4 left is willing and improved on the GH5, it is not the cheapest camera on the market, but when you take the benefits into conspiracy it is certainly a beautiful option.
8. Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II
60 fps in full resolution, 4K video, excellent image stabilization – is there anything the OM-D E-M1 Mark II can’t do?
Type: mirrorless | Sensor: Micro Four Thirds | Megapixels: 20.4MP | Lens mount: Micro Four Thirds | Screen: 3-inch touchscreen with variable angle, 1,037,000 points | Display: Electronic | Continuous shooting speed: 60fps | Maximum video resolution: 4K | User level: professional
A tractor, that’s what I think of when I talk about this camera. It has practically every evolution that anyone could want in a camera.
Olympus certainly tried to raise the bar when it came to this child here.
Renewed AF system, image stabilization and amazing 60 shots per second using the full sensor resolution.
Definitely those who take sports photos will want to take a look at this girl here.
This is not the easiest camera to use on the planet, but it is also not impossible. She is a decided camera for someone who has had other cameras in her life and knows what she is doing.
With the aid of autofocus, it is possible to take photos at 18 FPS more than enough to follow any football player across the lawn.
If you have a fat bank account and experience it is worth the try!
9. Sony A9
In the mouth of the People
Type: mirrorless | Sensor: full frame | Megapixels: 24.2MP | Lens mount: Sony E | Screen: 3-inch tilting touchscreen, 1,440,000 dots | Display: Electronic | Continuous shooting speed: 20 fps | Maximum Video Resolution: 4K | User level: Professional
Along with the Nikon D850 the Soy A9 was the most talked about camera this year, everyone talked about this thing.
Not surprisingly, it was the camera that everyone wanted to see Sony launch.
With it you can have your own shooting, as it shoots at 20 frames per second, an incredible mark for any action photographer.
It is the penultimate camera launched by the A7 family, even though it does not have a 7 in its name, as it uses practically the same body shape as its sisters.
It has an absurdly good autofocus system, very fast and accurate, and has 693 points of focus.
It takes photos very well, it has great image quality, it records videos in 4K, but all this comes at a price, it is an expensive camera.
Many users have reported overheating problems using this camera, so it is worth researching before investing a truckload of money in it.
10. Fujifilm GFX 50S
Signs of a future yet to come
Type: mirrorless | Sensor: medium format | Megapixels: 51.4MP | Lens mount: G Mount | Screen: 3.2 inch tilting touchscreen, 2,360,000 dots | Display: Electronic | Continuous shooting speed: 3 fps | Maximum video resolution: Full HD | User level: professional
Two brands brought to the market mirrorless cameras with medium format sensors, Hasselblad with X1D and Fuji with GFX 50S.
This may be the sign of an even more promising future for mirrorless cameras. A big problem is still their price, quite salty by the way.
The GFX 50S produces great images using its 51.4MP but this has a cost too, with so many megapixels it is slow motion, only 3 frames per second.
Anyway, the best things about this beauty are the tilting display and the image quality, great acquisitions for those who work in the studio and want top of the line equipment.
As the new sensor is bigger, Fuji ended up launching new lenses for this format, the G series, which still doesn’t have a lot of options.
Which begs the question, is there a new medium format mirrorless from Fuji?
You can find any of these beauties here , and if you want to book my gift now I’m happy!
And you are using which cameras leave them in the comments!
