Weeks ago GODOX started what is perhaps one of the biggest revolutions in the world of smartphone photography.
The brand revealed the development of the A1, a wireless trigger for sea flashes that is triggered by your phone. The GODOX A1 was designed to give your phone the ability to activate its popular line of flash units compatible with trigger X1.
The brand released some photos taken with this system in operation, the A1 firing a GODOX QT-600II. And I can say that it seems to be something very cool!
Unfortunately the photos shown by the brand use only one study situation as a reference, so when analyzing the EXIF data we don’t have a big comparison parameter.
The adjustments shown in the photos will probably not be enough for some photos outside the studio, like when we want to shoot against the sun! It was also not mentioned which system, Android or IOS, will be the first to receive the A1, nor if there will be an app for both platforms.
We know that the camera on the Iphone is pretty cool, but when we look at the photos, with a flash update pro the story is different.

One of the things that can bother you, until now we don’t know what it will be like is the maximum shutter sync speed.
The photos only show speed of 1/20 and 1/30, it will take that this is not the limit, because in some it would not be useful at all.
The Tric , was one of the first attempts to sweat professional flashes on the phone.
But it requires a receiver for each flash and the shutter settings only go from 1/30 to 1/60, depending on the smartphone you have.
So, even if the shutter speeds are just those, the Godox A1 still has the advantage of not needing to be dedicated for each flash, since it already uses the technology incorporated in the brand’s devices.
And as many photographers around the world already use GODOX products, the A1 will certainly be a good choice.
As I mentioned, there is no information about the multiplatform version, as well as price and release date.
I hope they release Android versions and that of course I can have one of these on hand for further analysis!
